The BMW M1 Homage is a concept car of the future, unfortunately this beauty will have to wait a little bit longer to be introduced into the world. BMW announced that the M1 will not be going into production, although they did not announce a date on which it will (or if it ever will for that matter) be going into production. See this post Here where we talked about the debute of the M1 BMW.

The BMW M1 Homage was to be a concept car with superior engine power, and surprisingly good economy fuel mileage for the massice torque this car was dreamed to put out. This vehicle is said to be the top of the line for BMW makers, and a concept car we look forward to seeing.

Although no estimated pricetag was given out on this vehicle my guess is your pockets are going to have to run pretty deep to be able to afford a car like this one. We all hope to see this car out on the roads one day, and many of us will dream of owning one.

The new electric car from Chevrolet is on the way, we think. While we wanted to call it their newest hybrid, the company has consistantly expressed their desire for it to be called an electric with “range extender” – considering they only use gasoline to recharge the batteries. Ok, enough with the history lesson…

GM has been working hard on this new model to get it out in the public eye as soon as possible. Tony Posawatz, vehicle line director at GM, had a few things to say about this interesting new breed at the Detroit Auto Show. “I would like to say this is a electric vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt is powered completely by GM’s Eflex electric propulsion system, so it is a electric vehicle that only requires an engine generator to turn on to create more electricity”.

Tony also said that the car would be able to run up to 40 miles on a full nights charge which is about six hours. After that the car would only need a small amount of gas to create more electricity through the engine generator in which the vehicle could travel another 640 miles. If all goes well, it’d be a great way to  go Green.

After being nothing more than a concept for nearly three years, Chrysler executives may have finally come to their senses, realizing that building the Chrysler Firepower may not be such a good idea afterall. The decision of actually producing this half-luxury, half-supercar has been thrown around more than a Super Bowl game ball, but due to Chrysler’s current financial standing it appears that the Firepower is nothing to hold your breath for.

Slated for production this year, the Firepower was built on a Dodge Viper chassis while boasting a 425hp 6.1L Hemi engine derived from the Chrysler 300C Hemi. This car would have been no slouch, as 0-60mph times were expected to be just under 4.5 seconds. With Aston Martin-esque body lines, It is clear that Chrysler implemented designs within the Firepower that have been proven time and time again not only for aesthetically pleasing purposes, but also race inspired aerodynamics.

The stylish interior would have been a huge hit, as it has both luxury and sport car characteristics. While chatting in the parking lot with a coworker after an executive business meeting, or taking hot laps at a road track, the interior would have surely been as much of a conversation piece as the car itself.

Unfortunately, owning or driving a Chrysler Firepower will be a dream that will never come true for most people, as the closest you will get to sitting behind the wheel of this car is on Xbox 360, as the Firepower is featured on a host of video games such as Project Gotham Racing 3 and Test Drive: Unlimited

Saleen is mean and green these days, evident by their latest supercar showing at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. Making an estimated 650 horsepower and 630 pounds of torque with ethanol fuel, this American made eco-friendly supercar blisters to 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds en route to an astonishing 200 mph top speed. The “Raptor”, inspired by bird of prey.

The Saleen S5S Raptor’s 2 seater chassis is built entirely of aluminum construction to keep the weight down, with body mouldings crafted from composite material. The supercar is being built by Saleen and ASC in a joint effort (they share ownership) . The E85 burning (official fuel of the 2008 American Le Mans Race Series and the IRL), twin-screw supercharged 5.0 liter mid-engine configuration is making big news – and everyone is watching. It’s shifted by choice of either a 6-speed manual transmission or an optional paddle shifting sequential. Stopping the Ferarri killer’s 20″ forged aluminum wheels are the job of 15/13 inch brakes and 6 caliper pistons. They’ve got their work cut out for them…

Pretty much sums it up. Expect an exciting 2010.  Oh, and this bright yellow display just isn’t some far fetched, plastic molded display either - Saleen expects it on the market within 2 years and can be had for a bargain price of $185,000. Well, ok not a bargain - but pretty darn good for a supercar.
