
There have been several rumors circulating that have indicated that the 2009 Pontiac G8 GT was going to include a six-speed manual transmission as an option, but Pontiac’s communications manager Jim Hopson has set the record straight. The only transmissions to be offered will be a 5L40 five speed automatic unit for the base models, and a 6L80 six speed automatic for the V8 models.

According to GM, the number of dealers set to receive the new ZR1 will be limited to only 338 dealers, out of 3,932 nation-wide. Only those dealers with the highest proven Corvette sales records will be included in those 338. Even those dealers that were picked are expected to receive only one or two cars each.

GM has revealed a new roadster, dubbed the Breckland Beira. This stylish new car rides on GM’s Kappa platform, which is the foundation for cars like the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, and Opel GT. This car is powered by the venerable 400hp 6.0L LS2 V8.

In Europe and other markets, Honda offers its Accord with both 2.0 and 2.4L gasoline powered engines, as well as a 2.2L four-cylinder i-DTEC turbo-diesel. This same car is to be offered in the U.S. as the Acura TSX.

Due to skyrocketing oil prices and increased competition from large retail grocery store and super stores, profit has become almost nonexistent. This has forced the Irving oil giant Exxon Mobile to pull the plug on the fuel retail business in the U.S. The company announced that 2,200 service station across the country will be put up for sale.
