How do I find the firing order?.While you have valve lash adjustment, you have to know the firing order of a engine. So How do you find the firing order? (no use books/manual).

Sometimes I see a engine that has no maint./instruction manual. So, very hard to maint. and repair it exactly. By your experience in engine, can you show me how to find the firing order of this engine (diesel engine example).

No. not realy. But I can find the firing order on just about every single vehicle that has been made thru the internet and auto manuals. I am not good enough to just look at a motor and tell you the firing order. But if you where working on a specific vehicle I could probably find it for ya. Somebody on here might be able to do it though.

Quote:
1. Watch the intake valve until it openes and closes on each cylinder to determine if that cylinder is on the compression stroke before setting the lash. 2. Watch all the cylinders to determine the firing order, then set the lash on each cylinder accordingly. 3. Get the firing order before hand and set the lash accordingly. |

I think it depends on the car model and the engine, it can be known when you bought it.
