The Subaru Exiga – Can’t Keep It Underwraps For Ever

The Subaru Exiga has been spotted out in California undergoing some tests. The barely disguised Exiga has a very sleek and sharp look about it that clearly displays Subarus racing heritage. As is apparent from the photos the Exiga will be a large MPV style vehicle designed to fit 7 adults comfortably. The exiga is also rumored to be equipped with a panoramic glass roof, fold-out tables, and flat-panel TVs. On the outside the Exiga boasts a hood scoop borrowed from the Impreza STi as well as a rear spoiler and split twin tailpipes giving the car a very sproty look and feel overall.

As far as performance goes we will have to wait until the official unveiling on June 17th. Subaru will more then likely market this super-wagon as a luxury alternative to traditional cross-overs and wagons. The Exiga is expect to go on the market in Japan by the end of the summer, in Europe by the end of the year and in America, well nothing has been said for the United States yet, but we can expect to see this vehicle sooner or later.

The All New Subaru Legacy S402

The new S402 model was just announced by Subaru for sale in the Japanese Domestic Market. Sadly, the press release was only available in a Japanese version which leads us to believe that this wonderful little legacy will not be sold in American markets. Subaru declared that sales will commence on June 27th, with prices starting at 5,491,500JY or $53,000.

This upgraded version of the Legacy will have a powerful 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder boxer engine with a twin scroll turbo as well as a remapped ECU and better flowing exhaust. On the cosmetics side, the S402 will have 20mm wider front fenders and plenty of badging. The Subie will also be fitted with 18-inch BBS rims and Bridgestone Potenza tires.

Other modifications include a reduced steering ratio, Bilstein shocks, Brembo brakes, MOMO steering wheel and an aluminum shift knob. The rest of the interior features black and dark gray color schemes with extensive use of leather.

The Subaru Legacy STI S402 will be available in two different body styles, a sedan and a station wagon. There will only be 402 units of each produced. Why 402? Who knows, but I can guarantee a poster of the S402 will grace my walls soon!

SRT’s Jeep Muscle Car

When you think about Jeep, I doubt you will be thinking muscle car. I will be the first to admit the first thing that pops into my head is a rock-crawling monster, but the nice folks at SRT (Street and Racing Technology) had a different idea. With the aftermarket offroad parts booming for every vehicle in the Jeep lineup, the team at SRT decided to push the Jeep Cherokee into the muscle car arena.

The SRT8 Cherokee joined the Jeep lineup in 2006. It comes standard with a SRT 6.1 Liter Hemi. The SRT8 is a full-time 4-wheel drive vehicle that boasts 420 hp and 420 lb./ft. of torque. Jeep claims an amazing 0-60 in less than 5 seconds – wet or dry! The offset tire sizes, front facia, and rear center exhaust definately give the SRT Cherokee that fast car look.

Muscle car status doesn’t come cheap, but then again, does it ever? The 2008 SRT8 Cherokee starts at $41,455, but don’t expect the bucks to stop there. At 11 mpg/city and 14 mpg/hwy, the SRT8 is going to be one of those toys that isn’t for the faint of wallet. With the power and speed to make a Porsche driver cringe, does cost really matter? As of now, there are no plans for the 2009 Jeep stable, but I am looking forward to seeing more of the SRT8 Cherokee.
