The 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid is said to be the next innovation in Hybrid technology. This vehicle is using the new two-mode hybrid system produced by GMC which gives this vehicle exceptional fuel mileage, yet still this vehicle is a beast the full mileage is not going to be much better.

This mammoth of a vehicle supports three rows of seating, and a 6-liter V8 engine. Although this vehicle is a hybrid car I don’t think many people are going to be smiling about the fuel economy on this one. It gets about 20 mpg, which is good for this massive vehicle, but nowadays most people just cant afford that must money for gasoline.

This vehicle sells for around $53,000 MSRP (Sticker price), in my opinion this vehicle is over priced for what the worlds economy is like right now. If the world stays like it is this vehicles are going to be a thing of the past. The gasoline price is just to high for must people to go out, and buy a gas machine like this vehicle.

General Motors has announced that it will build a hydrogen fueling station in Los Angeles in conjunction with Clean Energy Corp. The goal for this project is to promote the benefits of the clean-burning fuel, as well as G.M.’s progress in the field of alternative fuels. The two companies are also open to building the new hydrogen infrastructure in that hopes that it will build acceptance among consumers, and prove that hydrogen could one day be a successful alternative to fossil fuels.

Clean Energy is the leader in providing natural gas as fuel for transportation in North America and is lending its expertise at the storage and delivery of the fuel.

The hydrogen station will be used by drivers participating in Chevrolet’s Project Driveway, the world’s largest test of fuel cell vehicles, as well as the hydrogen fuel cell limo service being run by GM and Virgin Atlantic for its international travelers.

The project Driveway included more than 100 Chevy Equinox fuel cell vehicles leased to customers around the world, the first being delivered in L.A., New York City, and Washington D.C.

General Motors has had to recall close to nine thousand battery packs that were produced by their supplier – Cobasys. All of these battery packs were intended to be used and installed in the mild hybrid versions for the Saturn Vue, Chevrolet Malibu, and Saturn Aura.

According to a report released by GM the batteries had an internal leak – which caused the whole unit to shut down. This is going to seriously hurt GM’s sales. Because of the problem the Saturn Vue hybrid has gone down from 2,683 units from last year to a staggering 326 units this year so far. The Aura has sold only 69 units this year.

Chevrolet stated that they are still planning on starting production on the 2009 Malibu hybrid June 23rd. Likewise Cobasys stated that they have fixed the internal leak and that they will be shipping out more units without the defects.
