New ZR1 Shatters Z06’s Nurburgring Lap Times

When the Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 went into production in the latter half of 2005, critics everywhere gawked at the unbelievably fast lap times it posted around Germany’s world known track, the Nurburgring. Beating cars more than 5 times it’s own price tag, the C6 Z06 lapped the Nurburgring in just 7:42.99. With a retail price of $70,000, it’s no secret that this car was the best money could buy.

Only A Select Few Chevy Dealers To Receive Corvette ZR1

According to GM, the number of dealers set to receive the new ZR1 will be limited to only 338 dealers, out of 3,932 nation-wide. Only those dealers with the highest proven Corvette sales records will be included in those 338. Even those dealers that were picked are expected to receive only one or two cars each.

Ferrari recalls 366 612 Scagliettis in the U.S.

Ferrari is recalling 366 612 Scagliettis due to a defect in their F1 transmissions. A faulty sensor causes the the transmission components to overheat causing the transmission to fail. A clutch sensor inside the transmission is at fault for the failure. According to Ferrari, the faulty sensor results in unmonitored heat build-up that then causes the clutch assembly itself to malfunction, making shifting very difficult. 366 of the cars sold between 2005 and 2007 and equipped with the F1 transmission are affected.

After the seeing the success of the Gallardo, Lamborghini has decided to make a more extreme varient, just as it did with the Murcielago LP640.

The Donkervoort D8 GT Begins Production

Production of the Donkervoort D8 GT commenced last week in The Netherlands based factory. The Dutch specialty automaker is looking to produce 50 D8 GTs each year with an estimated entry cost of 90,000 euros. The D8 GT was originally unveiled at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show and has been in final development stages since. The car itself is an interesting car based upon the open-top D8 roadster but with significant improvements.
