When the Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 went into production in the latter half of 2005, critics everywhere gawked at the unbelievably fast lap times it posted around Germany’s world known track, the Nurburgring. Beating cars more than 5 times it’s own price tag, the C6 Z06 lapped the Nurburgring in just 7:42.99. With a retail price of $70,000, it’s no secret that this car was the best money could buy.

When the first Shelby GT500KR hit showroom floors in 1968, people started to realize that it truly lived up to its name as the King of the Road.  With a worked over 428 Cobra Jet, the classic muscle car produced 335hp and 440ft. lbs. of torque, deeming it virtually untouchable. After setting the standard for the performance car industry in the ’60s, Carroll Shelby knew he had to make a comeback when he noticed the muscle car wars were about to get bigger than ever between the “Big Three” car manufacturers, so he decided to build an all new GT500KR.

Chrysler Firepower Is A No-Go

After being nothing more than a concept for nearly three years, Chrysler executives may have finally come to their senses, realizing that building the Chrysler Firepower may not be such a good idea afterall. The decision of actually producing this half-luxury, half-supercar has been thrown around more than a Super Bowl game ball, but due to Chrysler’s current financial standing it appears that the Firepower is nothing to hold your breath for.
