Mercedes Benz manufacturer Daimler will go ahead with earlier plans to produce 10,000 electric-powered vehicles by 2012, according to Thomas Weber, director for research and development at Daimler.

The electric vehicles are going to become of thing of the future pretty soon, with all the tension with high gas prices, and the public eye viewing how the hybrids, and electric vehicles will save them. These vehicles are going to be the next generation in automotive transportation.

The new technology is ideal for 80 percent of Daimler’s European buyers who drive their vehicles an averages of 31 miles (50 kilometers) or less a day.
