2008 Maserati Edo Competition MC12 Corsa

Ever wonder what it would be like to drive a full blown GT1 class race car to the grocery store? That’s what German based super car tuner Edo Competition Motorsports hopes to find out very soon. Edo recently filed to have its fully track ready MC12 Corsa labeled and approved for street use. The thought of seeing one of these tear through the European country side legally sends chills up my spine. Edo has been customizing fabulous exotics like Ferrari’s, Lamborghini and Porsche’s for years and the new Competition MC12 Corsa ranks right up near the top in my opinion

Nothing about this car is focused on streetability nor creature comforts. It is definitely a race car and Edo doesn’t attempt to pass it off as anything else. Edo starts with the $1.7 million dollar Maserati MC12 Corsa and proceeds to build what most call a tuner version of the car makers GT1 class race car. The MC12 Corsa, built only for homologation reasons, is Maserati’s Enzo based halo GT car. Although the Corsa is an adequate performer both on and off the track, Edo Competition decided to take it a few steps further.

Edo starts by adding a fully adjustable suspension on the car. The factory nose lift feature on the MC12 is carried over into the Competition as well. The Edo Maserati comes to a halt courtesy of a complete ceramic composite braking system consisting of 15.6 inch rotors up front and 14.5 inch rotors out back. Custom brake pads and redesigned calipers round out the cars track worthy brakes. Edo leaves the already impressive Maserati engine virtualy untouched for its Competition model. Added to the fire breathing 755 horsepower V-12 is a full stainless steel race designed exhaust with electronically controlled butterfly valves. Finishing off the exhaust is a set of 4 V2A stainless steel 4 inch tips. Whether competing on the track or just going for a nice weekend cruise, the raw power and superb handling of Edo’s MC12 Corsa is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.
